Creating an illustrated map of New York City has been a deeply rewarding experience. Inspired by my visits to the city in the early 2000s, this map pays tribute to the vibrant energy and iconic landmarks that left a lasting impression on me.
The project began with my reflections on New York City's dynamic spirit. Drawing from my experiences exploring its bustling streets and famous landmarks, I focused on capturing the essence of places like Times Square, the Empire State Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge. Each hand-drawn sketch aimed to highlight the city’s architectural marvels and cultural hotspots.
Once the sketches were complete, I digitised them using graphic design software to refine the details and coloUrs. This process allowed me to experiment with compositions, resulting in a lively and captivating map that truly represents New York City's character.
Assembling the map brought back the excitement and wonder of my visits, with each element reflecting a piece of my memories.
